4 Creative Valentine’s Day Photoshoot Ideas for Women
Calling all my single girlies this Valentine’s Day; this is your sign that you don’t need a partner to have the best Valentine’s Day photoshoot of all time! In fact, your photos might come out even better all on your own 😉
Ariella and I set out to plan and photograph an anti-Valentine’s Day photoshoot centered all around her and how much boys suck. With the help of an amazing makeup artist and a talented cake decorator, we crafted creative Valentine’s Day photos showing off how hot Ariella is—and proving that maybe you just need cake instead of a man to have the best Valentine’s Day ever.
An Editorial Valentine’s Day Photoshoot: Solo Model
This creative Valentine’s Day photoshoot might be one my favorite themed projects I’ve ever worked on. It was so fun planning four different Valentine’s Day photo ideas, each with their own outfit and props!
Look 1: Lollipops and Lace Valentine’s Photos
To start off the shoot, Ariella wore a stunning white lace dress paired with a perfectly blushy makeup look. For props, we grabbed a handful of the traditional heart-shaped Valentine’s lollipops and started playing!
I love how these photos are both sexy and fun—perfect for Valentine’s Day. And super easy to recreate at home; all you need are some lollipops!
Look 2: “Kiss Me” Candy Hearts Photos
Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be complete without candy hearts! I remember digging through the bag of candy hearts on set, searching for the perfect phrases to photograph. I landed on “Kiss Me” and “Love You,” but take my word for it when I say it was a challenge to find the perfect hearts where you could actually read that tiny writing 😂
I loved using this opportunity to capture some close-up shots that showed off both the candy hearts and the amazing makeup look Ariella wore for this photoshoot. Her expressions are perfect—and not to mention her skill at posing while holding a candy heart in her mouth!
Look 3: Guns and Roses Edgy Valentine’s Photos
Since our first two looks for this photoshoot were leaning soft and sweet, we switched up the vibes for our third look with an edgy, black outfit, complete with metallic studs and thorny roses as props.
I directed Ariella through some fiercer expressions for these photos, blending the softness of the rose petals with her power in the posing. I love the result!!
Again, these are super easy to recreate for your own solo Valentine’s Day photoshoot; all you need is a bouquet of roses. This is your sign to buy yourself flowers!!
Look 4: “Boys Suck” Anti-Valentine’s Day Creative Photos
Yes, I saved the best for last. Our Valentine’s Day photoshoot was planned around my favorite concept of all: a cake frosted with “boys suck” that Ariella got to stab with a knife. And I have to say I’m completely obsessed.
We played around with a lot of different facial expressions for this look, capturing the emotional turmoil that men have put all women through (#iykyk).
And in this case, we can have our cake and eat it too. A cake smash was the perfect way to get out all that female rage!!
So let these anti-Valentine’s photos be your sign to do a solo Valentine’s Day photoshoot and look hotter than you’ve ever looked before (if you’re lucky, you’ll also get to eat delicious cake and proclaim your hatred for men!).
Tips and Ideas for Your Creative Valentine’s Day Photoshoot
Want to plan a Valentine’s Day photoshoot (or anti-Valentine’s Day photoshoot) of your own? Here are some tips and tricks from a professional photographer to help you have the creative photoshoot you’ve always dreamed about!
Hire a Makeup Artist
I cannot recommend using a professional makeup artist enough. I love the look that Aleksandra Artisty created for our photoshoot, and I know these photos wouldn’t look nearly as good without her expertise!! Having professional makeup immediately elevates your photoshoot, making it look professional and glamorous.
Plus, it’s a weight off your shoulders when you don’t have to worry about doing makeup yourself. You can relax, knowing you’ll be taken care of, and focus on bringing your A-game in front of the camera!!
Bring Lots Of Fun Props
Don’t know what to do with your hands? That’s why I love having plenty of props for a photoshoot like this!! Not only do they help keep your photoshoot on theme in such a fun way, but they also unlock new poses and help you feel more comfortable on camera.
Get Creative (and Spicy)
Finally, don’t be afraid to try new things!! Sometimes, a pose you didn’t expect or an angle you haven’t used before results in your favorite photo from the photoshoot. Play around with creative props, unique angles, and unconventional poses—you never know what you might end up unexpectedly loving.
And don’t be afraid to get a lil spicy—it is Valentine’s Day, after all!!
