Colorful LGBTQ+ Engagement Photos in Nashville, TN
Maddie and Sarah’s Nashville engagement photos are exactly what it looks like when your engagement photoshoot is a date to your local coffee shop!!!!
Did you know engagement photos in the city could be this easy and FUN? Getting your favorite iced latte, stopping to kiss in front of your neighborhood chocolate shop, walking your dog at the local park where you got engaged (hello Bicentennial Park!!); it’s a recipe for the CUTEST PHOTOS EVER!
As a queer photographer in Nashville, I felt so lucky to spend a gorgeous golden hour with Maddie and Sarah walking around Germantown, sipping coffee from Neighborlily, and giving their adorable dog Bear lots of attention (as he deserves).
Oh, and I wish you could’ve seen my face when Maddie and Sarah put on their adorable MATCHING SNOOPY AND WOODSTOCK HATS???? But more on that later…
I’m already counting down the days until I get to photograph their wedding next year!!!! For now, I’m sharing some of my favorite photos from their Nashville engagement photoshoot.
WLW Engagement Photos at a Nashville Coffee Shop
I met Maddie and Sarah for the first time outside their favorite coffee shop in Nashville, a cute little place called Neighborlily in the Germantown area. Because Neighborlily is walking distance from where they live, Maddie and Sarah find themselves here all the time. I love anytime couples want to take their engagement photos in a place that holds special meaning for them, and this is a great example of that!!!
And of course, Maddie and Sarah had to order their favorite Neighborlily iced latte. While we waited for their coffees to be made, we snapped a couple photos on the porch. Then, they got to sip their drinks and basically go on a date while I snapped some photos!!! I love to approach engagement photos this way—you’re on a cute little date and I just happen to be a third wheel with a camera 😉
This adorable little Germantown coffee shop, with its picturesque front porch and tucked away picnic tables, ended up making a perfect background for these LGBTQ+ engagement photos. And don’t their coffees just look absolutely delicious??
Once the coffee cups were empty and we’d captured plenty of adorable photos in the process, Maddie, Sarah and I set out on a walk to our next location—snapping plenty of photos along the way, of course!! (The streets of Germantown are just too picturesque to not stop for a few more photos.)
Nashville LGBTQ+ Couples Photoshoot at Bicentennial Park in Germantown
After a quick outfit change, it was time to head over to Bicentennial Park for the second half of our Nashville engagement photoshoot. Not only did Maddie and Sarah put on such cool, coordinated outfits, but they also picked up their dog Bear to join us for some photos!!! Together, the three of us + Bear made our way over to Bicentennial Park, a beautiful location for engagement photos in the heart of Nashville.
I loved watching Maddie and Sarah interact with Bear as I snapped photos of them together. The most adorable little family!!! I made sure to grab plenty of photos of them loving on Bear, and being so sweet to each other :) Plus, the backdrop of golden hour at Bicentennial Park could not have been more perfect!!
I am simply obsessed with how these WLW engagement photos came out, and I felt so grateful to capture Maddie and Sarah’s love for each other!!!
My Favorite Things About Maddie and Sarah’s Nashville LGBTQ+ Engagement Photos
What made me fall in love with this photoshoot? Other than the opportunity to spend time with the sweetest couple ever, here’s a few reasons why I loved Maddie and Sarah’s Nashville engagement photoshoot.
1. They chose locations with personal significance
I love how Maddie and Sarah wanted to take their engagement photos at Nashville locations that were important to them. We started at Neighborlily because it’s their favorite coffee shop in their neighborhood, and they walk to it all the time. And they chose Bicentennial Park because it’s where they got engaged!!
It felt so special to return to the site of their proposal to take engagement photos, and I loved hearing the story from them in between snapping pictures.
2. They included their dog
I work with couples all the time who ask if they can bring their dog to their engagement photoshoot, and my answer is always YES!! As a huge dog lover, I just LOVE when couples want to bring their dog to their engagement photoshoot, and this was no exception.
Bear is clearly so important to Maddie and Sarah, and I love that we were able to include him in their photos!!
3. They wore perfectly coordinated, personality-packed outfits
Possibly my favorite part of this engagement photoshoot was what Maddie and Sarah wore. I think the very first thing I did when they walked up to me outside Neighborlily was compliment their outfits!!! I love how their first look was bright, colorful, and very true to them while still being coordinated and camera-friendly. I mean, Maddie’s colorful striped shirt is to-die-for, and I loved the little flowers printed on Sarah’s. And let’s take a moment for the shoes!!!

Plus, I haven’t even talked about their MATCHING SNOOPY AND WOODSTOCK HATS? I am completely obsessed. I quite literally have a Snoopy tattoo, so you have to know this was very important to me. I mean, dream clients right here 😍
Each one of these elements of their photos I love have one thing in common: personalization!!! Maddie and Sarah did so much to make their engagement photos their own, which just makes these photos that much more special.
Thank you to Maddie and Sarah for trusting me to capture your love!!! I can’t wait to capture even more LGBTQ+ engagement photos in Tennesee this year :)
