Courtney + Meg’s LGBTQ+ Engagement Photoshoot in Germantown, Nashville

One of my favorite things in the world is when I have a photoshoot that reminds me why I love my job so much. (Okay, let’s be real, that’s almost every photoshoot because the people I have met and continue to meet are so amazing and inspiring—but some days are just extra special.) From the moment I met Courtney and Meg for engagement photos in their favorite Nashville neighborhood, I knew this was going to be one of those photoshoots.

While I was technically the third wheel here as their Nashville couples photographer, I didn’t feel like it at all because these two made me feel like a close friend immediately. I don’t think I stopped smiling for a second—between Courtney and Meg sharing the SWEETEST story of their joint proposal, watching them giggle through every pose, and talking about the life they’ve built in Nashville, capturing these photos was just so FUN.

We started with photos at Courtney and Meg’s favorite local brewery in Germantown, one of my personal favorite areas in Nashville, taking advantage of the lovely outdoor space and mild weather for the cutest couples photos. Once C&M had finished their drinks, we wandered into the heart of Germantown for even more photos on the charming surrounding streets.

As an LGBTQ+ Nashville photographer, it’s always such a privilege to capture photos for other members of the community. Courtney and Meg, thank you so much for being the loveliest models for this couples photoshoot; this queer Nashville photographer is so grateful!!!

LGBTQ+ Couples Photoshoot at a Nashville Brewery

I loved that Courtney and Meg wanted to do their photos at their favorite brewery; it’s such a unique idea, and the brewery they chose had such a perfect outdoor space for us to utilize. Plus, because it was a chillier day, almost everyone else was inside; so we had the entire outdoor space to ourselves.

Courtney and Meg both ordered their favorite fruit-flavored sour, which happened to have the most beautiful color. I let C&M chat and drink, taking some casual photos as we worked our way around the space. It was basically a date where I was there hanging around as a third wheel with a camera!!!

Of course, I had to get some shots showing off Courtney and Meg’s beautiful engagement rings. I asked them to tell me their proposal story, and I swear I almost teared up in the middle of the brewery!! They had planned a special weekend getaway for just the two of them, knowing they would propose and making sure a photographer was there to capture the moment—which happened during a beautiful sunrise picnic. The intentionality behind their joint proposal was so romantic to me, and I felt so honored to be taking these engagement photos celebrating their love.

This Germantown brewery—with its gorgeous brick walls, picnic tables, and string lights—made the perfect backdrop for these LGBTQ+ engagement photos. Once the drinks were gone and the sun was starting to sink lower in the sky, we left the brewery giggling and making our way to the next location.

Just a few blocks away from the brewery, we had a quick outfit swap then wandered around the quaint streets of Germantown for some lifestyle engagement photos. We walked by an awning with truly Parisian vibes where we just HAD to spot for pictures. I’m obsessed with how these ones came out; it almost doesn’t even feel like Nashville!!

And of course, we had to take even more photos showing off those gorgeous rings!!!

I always love to finish an engagement photoshoot with a fun pose, and with Meg’s dance background, I knew these two could pull off an epic dip kiss. And oh boy, did they!!!

Germantown made for such a great Nashville photoshoot location and I loved exploring with Courtney and Meg. These might be some of my favorite WLW engagement photos I’ve ever taken!!

Why I Loved Courtney and Meg’s Nashville LGBTQ+ Engagement Photoshoot

What made this photoshoot such a dream? Other than just working with two incredible people, here’s a few details of Courtney and Meg’s Nashville engagement photoshoot that I especially loved.

1. Their coordinated outfits

Courtney and Meg did such a great job picking out outfits that complemented each other, the location, and the season. The warm tones and long jackets were so fitting for winter photos, and I loved that they switched things up at our second location and added some cute beanies to fit the seasonal vibes!!

2. The picturesque locations

Something that I love about Courtney and Meg’s relationship is their intentionality - from their proposal story to the locations we shot at, everything had thought behind it. I loved that we shot at a spot that was familiar to them (their favorite brewery) complete with their go-to drink order. It just made the photos feel so them.

3. Their pure joy

Lastly, I just have to mention the pure joy radiating from these two. It was so obvious from a second of meeting Courtney and Meg that they’re meant to be together. I loved watching them laugh throughout the whole photoshoot; it was hard not to smile just looking at them! As an LGBTQ+ photographer, documenting queer joy is so special to me and I left this photoshoot feeling so happy to have met and photographed such an incredible, joyful couple.

The sweetest 5-star review from Courtney & Meg

I had the best time ever taking photos for Courtney and Meg, and I think it’s safe to say the feeling was mutual!! I wanted to share the review from Courtney and Meg that almost made me cry when I read it:

“Kayla was simply a dream to work with!! Aside from being a wonderful human who feels like an instant friend, she’s really talented at her craft. She brings a perfect balance of helping to pose you for photos but letting authenticity shine. Her friendliness and support behind the camera makes it that much easier to feel comfortable in front of it!

I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face while scrolling through our gallery. I’ve “favorited” AT LEAST every other photo in a failed effort to narrow down what I like. They’re all amazing. I truly don’t think you can go wrong booking a session with Kayla!”

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to photograph amazing people like C&M. Bring on even more Nashville LGBTQ+ engagement photos in 2025!!
