Hendley’s Summer Senior Photos at Harlinsdale Farm

As a Tennessee senior photographer in Franklin and Nashville, Harlinsdale Farm is one of my absolute favorite places to take photos, so I was so excited when we decided to take Hendley’s senior pictures there!! What could be dreamier than photographing this beautiful, sweet senior on a 200-acre historical farm? Not to mention, I loved every single outfit she chose for her photos, from the butter yellow flowy dress to the classic denim top (I think I need to shop her closet), and her bright smile made every single image shine.

Keep reading for some of my favorite photos from Hendley’s senior photoshoot in Franklin, Tennessee, and for some of my top tips, advice, and frequently asked questions for taking senior photos at Harlinsdale Farm!

Beautiful Senior Photos at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, Tennessee

Hendley and I met up at golden hour on a beautiful summer day right after a heat wave broke in Nashville, so the weather felt heavenly. I’m talking the perfect breeze, and a great mix of sun and clouds that gave us even lighting and pops of golden hour.

Hendley brought both her mom and her grandmother for support at her senior photoshoot, and I was so glad we had such a fun crew to work with. They were kind enough to carry about the bouquet of white blooms that we used for Hendley’s first look, flowers which perfectly Hendley’s adorable wide-legged white pants and denim top. I photographed her in one of my favorite Harlinsdale spots, a giant open field, and against a fence that perfectly matched her look!

From there, Hendley changed into her second outfit (a stunning pink and white floral dress) and we began to explore the rest of the beautiful property. I love the cowboy boots she paired with this look—very fitting for Nashville senior photos!

Hendley’s third look was a stunning, flowy yellow dress that felt perfectly at home in the bunches of yellow wildflowers dotting the field. Once we both felt confident that we’d taken plenty of good senior in the field, we headed to our final spot at Harlinsdale—and I think we saved the best for last.

A Moment for the Hidden Creek at Harlinsdale Farm

One of my favorite “hidden” spots at Harlinsdale Farm is this beautiful creek where we decided to end our photoshoot. We walked down a short pathway where the trees opened up into a beautiful stream—and I was so excited that Hendley was willing to play around in the water for photos.

I absolutely love how these photos of her swishing her dress in the water came out. The yellow of her dress perfectly complimented the colors of the tree surrounding us, and it was so fun to have this little stream all to ourselves.

This entire shoot reminded me why I love taking senior photos—from connecting with a senior as sweet as Hendley to getting creative with fun poses on a gorgeous backdrop, I couldn’t have asked for a better day as a Nashville senior photographer.

What to Wear for Your Senior Photos at Harlinsdale Farm

I always get asked, what should I wear for my senior photos? There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but a great place to start is to think about color, shape, and texture. Hendley’s outfits are perfect examples of amazing senior photoshoot outfits that consider all of these elements—gorgeous, light colors that matched the scenery at Harlinsdale Farm, flowy pieces that provided amazing movement, and denim textures that added a layer of interest to simpler looks.

Ultimately, you want to wear something that makes you feel good, because the better you feel, the better the photos will turn out!

Another frequently asked question I often get asked is, what is the best color to wear for senior photos? Once again, there’s no best color,  but I typically recommending sticking to soft and neutral tones. For example, white, cream, black, brown, and navy are all good options, as are earthy colors like browns and greens, or pastel colors like pale pink or purple. If you have a favorite color, it can be fun to work that into your outfits somehow!

Below, I have answers to some of the most frequently asked questions I get about photoshoots at the farm, but feel free to shoot me a message if you have any additional questions; it’s one of my favorite locations for portrait photoshoots within 30 minutes of Nashville!

Where should I take photos at Harlinsdale Farm?

Harlinsdale Farm offers so many amazing spots for senior photos all in one place, which is why it’s so popular for photoshoots! As a Nashville senior photographer, I personally love shooting in the tall grass, the wide open fields, in front of the white fences, against the rustic barns, and in the “hidden” creek

Those are just my favorites, but have fun exploring the farm; there are so many picturesque places to choose from for photos, you really can’t go wrong!

Where do I park at Harlinsdale Farm?

When you drive into Harlinsdale Farm, located at 239 Franklin Rd, Franklin, TN 37064, you’ll drive down the long road into the farm, make a left, and you’ll see the large parking lot. If that lot is full, there’s a second, smaller lot at the back of them farm if you continue following the road past the parking lot to the left. The parking lot is not hard to find, so don’t stress!

Does Harlinsdale Farm get crowded for photos?

Harlinsdale Farm is one of best locations in Franklin, Tennessee for senior photos, which also means it can get crowded during peak season. However, the great thing about the farm is that it’s so big (nearly 200 acres!), so even when it is technically crowded, it’s still so easy to find quiet spots for your senior photos. Everyone has plenty of space to spread out and take photos all over!

What is the best time of year to take photos at Harlinsdale Farm?

In my opinion, the best time of year to take senior photos at Harlinsdale Farm is anytime between April–June or August–October. The spring months will give you gorgeous weather and flower patches, and late summer/early fall brings gorgeous temperatures and blooming trees.

That being said, you can take photos here any time of year! Just be prepared for hot temperatures in the deep summer months (July) or colder temperatures and less foliage in the winter.
